Porquê Alvor-Silves?
Alvor e Silves são duas localidades algarvias, com importância na história de Portugal. Alvor foi identificada à cidade romana de Portus Annibalis, referindo a sua ligação cartaginesa a Aníbal. Silves será mais conhecida pela importante Tarifa de Silves (reino independente árabe).
No entanto, a sua associação é aqui feita no contexto do relato da morte de D. João II.
  • D. João II decide morrer no Alvor, e solicita ser enterrado na sé de Silves.
Assuntos do blogue

Why Alvor-Silves?
Alvor and Silves are two Algarve localities, with importance in the history of Portugal. Alvor was identified to the Roman city of Portus Annibalis, referring to the Carthaginian connection to Hannibal. Silves will be best known for the important Silves tarifa (an Arab Independent Kingdom).
However, their association is made here in the context of the account of the death of King John II.
- King John II decides to die in Alvor, and requests to be buried in the town of Silves.

Blog Posts 
The Alvor-Silves blog began with a historical discussion, more related to the period of maritime discoveries, but evolved with connection to the world history. Perhaps the most important part of the blog turn out to be the associated philosophical considerations.
